Women and old men are the most vulnerable to Wa killings

Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Member of Parliament for Wa Central, claims that women and elderly men working as security guards are the primary targets of alleged ritual killings in Wa.

He called the situation concerning.

Mr Pelpuo stated on the Ghana Tonight Show with Alfred Ocansey on Tuesday September 20, “the target group who are vulnerable, either they are old men who are watchmen at spots that are isolated from people, they go there midnight and kill the person.”

“The other attempt was on a woman in her home, but they were unsuccessful because she fought and freed herself.” It means that these predators of human flesh are still active and pose a threat to society.”

Meanwhile, the key suspect in the Wa murder case has been apprehended by police.

Suspect Kankani Adongo was apprehended on September 19, 2022 in Bamahu, a Wa suburb, following extensive collaboration between the Police and community search parties, according to the Police.

According to a police statement, on September 18, 2022, Special Purpose Police Intelligence and investigation teams working with members of the community discovered a body in a shallow grave at Bamahu, a Wa suburb.

Family members of the deceased later identified the body as Seidu Baga, who had gone missing on September 16, 2022.

The body was then exhumed and transported to the Regional Hospital in Wa for an autopsy and investigation.

Police have dispatched clinical psychologists to provide psychosocial support to the family.

“We want to reassure residents of Wa Municipality and its surroundings that the special intelligence and investigation teams will continue to work around the clock, with help from the affected communities, to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

“Operations and combat teams have also saturated the area to ensure overall safety and security,” according to the statement.
