Residents of Ashaiman Lebanon in the Greater Accra Region were saddened when news broke of a six-hour-old baby who was flushed in a water closet by the mother.
Gladys Darkoa, also known as Ataa, made the decision to abort her child.
According to Monica Dede Odonkor, the host of Asetenapa on Connect FM, who spoke with a family member who requested anonymity, the woman was employed as a house girl a few months ago.
Her mistress, on the other hand, discovered she was pregnant.
Gladys Darkoa had denied being pregnant, but a neighbor heard a baby cry and tracked it down to the toilet at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Upon entering, he discovered the baby in the toilet as the ostensibly pregnant woman attempted, but failed, to flush it out.

When Darkoa was examined, drops of blood were discovered on her, indicating she had given birth to the baby, and upon questioning, she admitted to the act.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the baby did not survive.
