On Sunday night, a middle-aged woman and her two children were killed in a fire that destroyed their home in Asuoyeboa.
This fire incident brings the total number of Ashanti Region residents who died as a result of a domestic fire between August and September 2022 to seven.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire engulfed the three-bedroom apartment, trapping the mother and her two children inside.
The deceased’s husband, who is also the father of the two children, was able to flee but sustained serious injuries and is being treated at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Residents in the area say it took a long time for Ghana National Fire Service officials to arrive on the scene.

Meanwhile, officers from the Ghana National Fire Service have refuted claims that they were late to the scene.
DO3 Peter Addai, the Ghana National Fire Service’s Ashanti regional public relations officer, stated that “we received the call around 11:42.”
“The Komfo Ankokye fire station was dispatched to respond to the incident.” It took approximately 11 minutes to get there… From afar, 11 minutes is a reasonable time.”
