After making supporters wait for over 12 hours for his headlining performance at the Accra Sports Stadium, Wizkid declined to appear, infuriating Ghanaians.
About 5,000 people were expecting the singer, who was scheduled to perform last night, but he did not arrive.
Wizkid fans were unable to leave the venue because they were holding out hope that the Grammy Award-winning singer and performer would ultimately arrive.
Many people are calling the concert, which was supposed to take place on Saturday, December 10, 2022, a complete waste of time and money because tickets ranged in price from GHC 300 to GHC 3,200 simply to see him play.
The audience was irate and angry as they waited impatiently for Wizkid to take the stage since 4 p.m. the day before. They either demanded a refund or insisted on seeing the “Starboy” perform before leaving.
A number of performances by artists like Gyakie, Efya, Darkovibes, and others were seen, but not the man of the hour.
There were reportedly great hopes and an upbeat atmosphere when Wizkid’s official Disc Jockey, “DJ Tunez,” took the stage with some live band music.
This was because many people believed the “Essence” hitmaker would follow.
However, as the live band mixes took longer than expected, the crowd’s enthusiasm began to wane, and the organisers failed to provide proper communication to keep them up to date on WizKid’s progress.
The crowd was said to be in limbo until 3:47 a.m., when Wizkid’s official DJ screamed twice “the promoter fucked up” over Black Sherif’s “Kwaku the Traveller,” and that’s when the crowd got the message.
Fans have taken to social media to express their outrage at how he treated them.
One Nneka wrote “People leaving at 4:30 am after 12 hours waiting for Wizkid. I feel so bad, I feel sad it is happening in another country, happening in Ghana, a country you reside in.

This is the peak of one’s hubris. About 5000 people stood waiting for an artist and he decided not to show up. The authorities should intervene, he should be banned and sanctioned, it is rather distasteful.”

One Danny wrote: “Wizkid or Big WIz or whatever he calls himself just disrespected the whole nation of Ghana. Now we know why Burna boy is where he is and the rest of you are in his shadow.”
Some believe Wizkid should be banned, while the show’s organizers were sanctioned for what was one of the most disorganized Wizkid concerts ever.
