Aisha Huang, the galamsey queen, has been denied bail by the Accra Circuit Court 9.
The infamous illegal miner is on trial alongside three other Chinese nationals: Jong Li Hua, Huang Jei, and Huaid Hai Hun, all of whom are charged with mining without a valid licence and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a permit.
The Prosecution stated that it needed more time to complete the investigation.
Nkrabea Effah Dartey, a defence lawyer, wondered what investigations remained to be conducted.
He reminded the court that the accused had already been remanded for 14 days and questioned what further investigation was needed.
He also accused the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, of using the Bar Conference to solicit the cooperation of the judiciary in order to successfully prosecute the case.
Nkrabea Effah Dartey questioned why the Ghanaian Bar’s leader would be so prejudicial to the case.

The retired military captain and former NPP MP for Berekum urged the Court not to allow public speculation about the Executive’s influence on the matter.
He told the court that denying bail would result in the media portraying the court as capitulating to President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
However, the court presided over by His Honour Samuel Bright Appiah, reasoned that the case had become a matter of public interest both at home and abroad.
As a result, His Honour remanded them in custody until September 27, 2022.
