Concerns have been raised about a blackout in Tema on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, and the Tema General Hospital has stated that it has “adequate provisions” in place to ensure that services are not disrupted.
The Electricity Company of Ghana will disconnect power from the area between 7 p.m. and midnight, in accordance with a Tema Traditional Council order issued ahead of the final funeral rites of Tema Mantse, Osonnaa Nii Adjei Kraku II.
Residents in Tema and Ashaiman have been advised to stop moving tonight and to close their shops and markets on Friday and Saturday in order for the council to organize a fitting burial ceremony for the late Tema Mantse.

“All of our stand-by generators will be there, so there will be light for us to work with,” he said, asking ECG to keep the hospital in mind when cutting power to the area.

“We hope that ECG will consider this critical service point and grant us that benefit so that we can serve people who come around.”
The chief’s final rites will be held on Saturday, October 29.
