Senyo Hosi, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, has justified his call for the resignation or dismissal of Food and Agriculture Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
According to Mr Hosi, the Agric Minister lacks leadership skills and the ability to transform the sector, which is why he made the call.
An enraged Senyo Hosi said on the Citi Breakfast Show on Friday that the minister’s arrogance discourages investors from making significant investments in the sector.
“The Minister’s recklessness has now gone too far, as everyone can see.” When there were shortages, this man stated that there were none. “He doesn’t even know what the market prices are,” Mr Hosi told sit-in host Nathan Quao.
“This man lacks the capacity to lead this sector,” he added. Agriculture is the single most important industry in this country. It is one of the few industries that can be transformed in a single election cycle. But what have we accomplished thus far? We spent money and got nothing in return. Show me a successful industry. Is it poultry, which one…I believe Ghanaians can only take so much.”
“Enough with the politicians and their sloganeering, their arrogance, and the ‘I know it all culture.’ We pay him, we put real money on the ground, and if we lose it, we lose it in our pockets. If you can’t help investors, at least respect them, and he wants to be president, it’s a joke.”

Mr Hosi’s comments come after the Agriculture Ministry asked him to provide information to help it prove claims that he lost millions of cedis by relying on ministry data.
The Ministry called Mr. Hosi’s comment in a video circulating on social media “unfortunate” and said it undermined the Ministry’s integrity.
