Antoine Semenyo of the Black Stars says he is “overjoyed” to have scored his first international goal in Ghana’s 2-0 win over Switzerland.
Semenyo came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute and scored 12 minutes later to double Ghana’s lead after Mohammed Salisu had given them the lead with a header.
When he came on, the Bristol City striker was an all-around nuisance, disrupting play and troubling the Swiss defence with his direct runs.
Semenyo told journalists after the game that he was pleased to have scored for the Black Stars.
He was also impressed with the overall performance of the team, saying they were ready for the World Cup.
It feels so good, I feel so happy [to have scored],” he said to Joy FM.
“We played so well, it was an all-round good performance. Everyone’s firing and we’re all ready.”
Semenyo’s fourth game for Ghana came on Thursday. He has played 61 minutes for the Black Stars so far and has yet to start a game.

His impressive cameo against the Swiss, on the other hand, may push him into contention for a starting spot against Portugal on November 24.
