Sekondi-Takoradi MCE reinstated after suspension

Abdul Mumin Issah, the suspended Chief Executive of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, has been reinstated.

The reinstatement was confirmed in a letter signed by Dan Botwe, the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development.

“I’m sorry to inform you that H. E. “In response to recommendations made by the Western Regional Coordinating Council, the President of the Republic has given approval for the reinstatement of Mr Abdul Mumin Issah as Metropolitan Chief Executive for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly,” the letter addressed to the Western Regional Minister stated.

Abdul Mumin Issah in February was suspended after an arrest for a road traffic offence and alleged assault on a police officer.

On February 3, 2022, he was suspended from office pending an investigation into his encounter with the police.
“Without prejudice to the matter now before the court,” the suspension letter from the sector Minister stated, “the government takes a very dim view of the comments made by the Metropolitan Chief Executive during his exchanges with the Police.”

He was also arraigned in court and was granted Ghc100,000 bail.
