The Chinese Embassy has spoken out about the recent arrests of Chinese citizens involved in illegal mining.
According to official remarks on the issue by the Embassy Spokesperson, as seen by 3news.com, the Chinese government has “always requested Chinese citizens overseas to abide by the laws and regulations of the host country.”
It went on to say that it “strongly opposes Chinese citizens engaging in any illegal activities in any country and supports the Ghanaian government in fighting illegal mining in accordance with the law.”
In support of Ghana’s efforts to enforce its laws, the Embassy requested that the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens be fully protected.
“We respect Ghana’s decision to handle relevant cases in accordance with the law.” We hope that the Ghanaian government will fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.”
These remarks follow the arrest of Chinese businesswoman En Huang, also known as Aisha Huang.
