The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has stated its intention to carry out the roadmap established and made public by the Ministry of National Security in order to bring electricity back to Kroboland.
The Company consequently expressed its expectation that all other stakeholders would participate in their appropriate capacities to make the exercise advantageous for everyone.
After ECG employees were repeatedly attacked by locals, power was turned off in the Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo communities.
Transformers were tampered with, and ECG officials were frequently barred from residences so they could examine prepaid meters that were allegedly loaded with debt.

The Company has already moved its district offices from Somanya to Juapong.
After weeks of impasse amid absolute darkness in the towns, a stakeholders’ conference was held in early August and a path was agreed to as to how to restore power in the impacted communities.
According to a press release by ECG and signed by its managing director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, “We agree it will not be easy owing to misconceptions amongst our customers in the Yilo Krobo and Manya Krobo enclave but we will beseech everyone to remain calm and allow ECG to serve you better.”
In a statement on Tuesday, August 23, all parties were thanked, especially the sector minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the national security minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, the political leadership in the municipalities, particularly the Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, heads of religious organizations, and opinion leaders, “for their significant roles in bringing finality to the ECG/Yilo Krobo and Lower Manya Krobo impasse.”
