Residents of the Sekyere Kumawu District in the Ashanti Region besieged the District Assembly on Tuesday to protest bad roads.
According to the residents, the nature of the main Juaben-Kumawu road is to blame for an increase in robberies in the area.
Residents wore red bands around their wrists and heads and expressed concern about the transportation of produce from farming communities to urban centers after harvest.
Stephen Acheampong, a resident, read out the petition on behalf of the group and presented it to the District Chief Executive.

“This passionate petition is now required.” Our road from Kumawu to Juaben via Effiduase is in a terrible state. The contractor who began work in some areas has left the site. We can no longer deal with the poor condition of the road.”
