Dr George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police, has urged graduates of the 14th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) to make a positive contribution to society as soon as they graduate.
The IGP claims that by adding value and assisting in the solution of global issues, they will be able to achieve financial stability because the added value may be commercialized.
The IGP who is also an alumnus offered the counsel at his commencement address at the 14th Congregation of the UPSA in Accra on August 30, 2022.
“Depending on what you throw at it, the world will either celebrate or punish you.” Allow others to benefit from your knowledge and skill set as you depart today. When others begin to benefit from your knowledge, you are providing value to others. You can monetize this value and become financially stable and self-sufficient. “Providing value makes you very useful to the rest of the world,” said the IGP.

He also encouraged the graduates to be disciplined in their efforts to change the world.
“If you want to make the world a better place, you must maintain your discipline.” You should view failure as a necessary step toward success and never give up. A breakthrough will occur if you persevere. Don’t give up easily; if you do, you will miss an opportunity to change the world.”
Professor Abednego Amartey, Vice Chancellor of the University, urged the graduates to step up and be better ambassadors for the school.
Dr Akuffo Dampare once more urged the graduates not to give up because success is possible with persistence.
“You should never give up and consider failure to be a necessary step on the road to achievement. The breakthrough will come with patience. Don’t give up lightly because you might miss the chance to change the course of history.
Today, approximately 2000 students from the diploma, undergrad, and master’s levels graduated.
