Police hunt for prophetess who asked a couple to bury their son alive

The Ghana Police Service in the Central Region is looking for the prophetess who is suspected of being involved in the death of a two-year-old boy in Breman Brakwa.

On May 27, 2021, the boy was allegedly buried alive by his father, Paul Adobaw.

The Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa Police later arrested Paul Adobaw.

The deceased’s parents were allegedly convinced by the prophetess Ama Nkansah that their child, who could neither walk nor talk, was a spirit child who needed to be killed.

The incident was reported to the police by Paul Adobaw’s tenant, who was later arrested.

When questioned by the tenant, Paul Adobaw told police that they were performing a traditional rite, only for the boy to be discovered later in a grave behind their home.

Paul Adobaw and his wife, Yaa Atta at Brakwa, have five children, including the deceased.

The deceased had never walked before his painful death since his birth.

Paul Adobaw is currently being held in police custody to assist with investigations.

Following the murder of an 11-year-old boy by two teenagers in a Kasoa suburb in the Central Region, the activities of so-called spiritualists have come under scrutiny.

According to reports, the two teenagers planned to use the deceased for money rituals after speaking with a traditional priest.
