Kwasi Bonzoh’s lawyer says she has been denied access to her client, Ellembelle District Chief Executive Kwasi Bonzoh, who was detained by police on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
The DCE was arrested by police for alleged obstruction after one of the two missing excavators that the police were looking for was discovered in Ankobra.
He is being held at the Western Regional Police Command right now.
After detaining the DCE and three others, including the NPP Ellembelle Constituency Secretary, Francis Appiani, for hours, the DCE’s lawyer, Selomey Erica Abekah, told Citi News that she has yet to see her client.
“I’ve been told he’s here, so I’m here to make sure his liberty is secure.” I visited the Regional Commander’s office, and he informed me that my client has yet to make his statement, so they are working on it. But I believe he’ll return home today.”
The excavator was discovered on Tuesday after “days of intelligence operations,” according to police.
“A day and night team of operations and intelligence officers discovered the missing excavator several kilometers into a forest within the Ellembelle District.”
Kwasi Bonzoh, according to police, “organized and led some thugs to attack the police and obstruct the operation.”
