Police apprehend a 17-year-old boy for impregnating ten women
The Rivers State Police Command in Nigeria has arrested a 17-year-old boy named Noble Uzuchi in connection with the impregnation of ten women.

The suspect was apprehended alongside his accomplice, 29-year-old Chigozie Ogbonna.
According to police, the two suspects and two other women, Favour Bright, 30, and Peace Alikoi, 40, were allegedly running a baby factory.

According to Pulse.ng, Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, the arrests were made in response to a tip.

The police chief said, the four suspects operated in the state’s Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas prior to their arrest.
She also stated that officers rescued the ten pregnant women following the raid and arrest of the suspects.

“On Saturday, January 7, 2023, around 4.45 pm, while acting on credible intelligence available to the Rivers State Police Command, C4I Intelligence Unit operatives raided two houses at Igwuruta and Omagwa communities respectively, where victims of child trafficking were being kept.

“The operation rescued ten victims, the majority of whom were pregnant,” said Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement.

She revealed that investigations revealed that when a victim gave birth, the syndicate leader kept the child and paid her N500,000 and that some of the babies previously delivered in the houses were sold.

“All the victims confessed that they were lured to the illicit sales of children because of the need to meet some financial challenges. The syndicate leader was found with a white Honda Pilot Jeep.”

The investigation has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to track down and apprehend the buyers of the already sold children.
