Police announce bounty for information on Wa killings

Police have announced a GH100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killings in Wa.

According to a police statement, intelligence indicates that more than one person may have been involved in the killings.

So far, one person has been arrested in connection with the killings.

Kankani Adongo, the suspect, was arrested on September 19, 2022, and is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

Following a string of killings, police have assured that they will continue to maintain law and order in the Wa Municipality and surrounding communities.

On Monday, the IGP and members of the Police Management Board and the Regional Police Command went on a security tour of the municipality.

Police have special intelligence and investigation teams that work with members of the community.

At Bamahu, the team discovered the body of a male adult who had been buried in a shallow grave.

“The body was removed and deposited at the Regional Hospital in Wa, awaiting autopsy, after the necessary crime scene examination.” A pathologist from the Police Hospital is leading a team to Wa as part of the investigation,” the statement continued.

The police continue to maintain law and order in Wa Municipality and its environs.
Kankani Adongo, the suspect arrested on September 19, 2022, is in custody and cooperating with the investigation.

Analysis of intelligence gathered thus far indicates that more than one person may be involved in this heinous crime, and we will do whatever it takes to apprehend them and bring them to justice.

Meanwhile, the special purpose intelligence and investigation team recovered the body of a male adult at Bamahu during their surveillance on the night of September 19, 2022.

The body was removed from the crime scene and deposited at the Regional Hospital in Wa, awaiting autopsy. As part of the investigation into the incidents, a pathologist from the Police Hospital is leading a team to Wa.

We continue to urge anyone with credible information that can lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators to come forward and share it with the authorities. In accordance with this, a GHC100,000 reward has been set aside for anyone who provides information in this regard.
