Otto Addo resigned as Ghana’s head coach after the Black Stars were eliminated in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.
The Borussia Dortmund assistant coach’s contract was extended until December, so he was always due to leave after the World Cup.
“I always stated if we qualified for the World Cup, even if we won, I’d quit,” he remarked following Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay on Friday.
The 47-year-old was appointed on a temporary basis in February to replace the fired Milovan Rajevac, but his contract was extended after guiding Ghana to World Cup qualification.
“My family sees our future in Germany,” he continued.
“Football is beautiful and ugly at times.” Today is a bad day for us. We must learn, and I am confident that we will in the future.”
