There have been posters of Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor going around, indicating that he intends to run for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary position in the 2019 national executive elections.
Dr Otokunor now serves as the deputy to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s General Secretary for over a decade.
Unconfirmed sources imply that he may run for National Chairman, despite the fact that Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is running for re-election.

Mr Asiedu Nketia defeated suspended Samuel Koku Anyidoho, who was also his deputy, in the most recent national executive elections.
Dr Otokunor is not the only candidate for general secretary; the party’s director of elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has also declared his candidacy.
