Ofori-Atta should be fired just as UK’s Kwasi Kwarteng

North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wants Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta fired, just as his British counterpart Kwasi Kwarteng was fired by Prime Minister Mary Elizabeth Truss.

Mr. Kwarteng was fired on Friday, October 14, amid speculation that the government’s tax cuts had caused financial market turmoil.

“You have asked me to step aside as your Chancellor, and I have accepted,” he wrote in response to his dismissal.

“When you asked me to be your Chancellor, I did so fully aware of the extremely difficult situation we faced, with rising global interest rates and energy prices.” Your vision of optimism, growth, and change, on the other hand, was correct.

“We’ve been colleagues and friends for a long time. During that time, I witnessed your commitment and determination. I believe your vision is correct. It has been a privilege to be your first Chancellor.”

In a tweet, Mr Ablakwa said, “Kwasi Kwarteng hasn’t done a fraction of the damage Ken Ofori-Atta has caused the Ghanaian economy, but he gets fired while Ken is showered with praises from his family member, President Akufo-Addo as Ghanaians suffer even more.” There is no justice in the world.”
