The National Labour Commission (NLC) has obtained a restraining order against the National Association of Graduate Teachers, the Ghana National Association of Teachers, and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers’ ongoing strike.
On Friday, November 11, 2022, the NLC obtained the order at Labour Court 2, presided over by Justice Ananda Aikins.
The unions have been on strike since Friday, November 4, demanding that Dr. Eric Nkansah be removed as Director General of the Ghana Education Service.
Meetings between the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and unions have ended in failure.
The government had complained that the unions had not gone through the proper channels before calling the strike, and it wanted the teachers to properly engage them in order to resolve their demands.
