Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has referred to himself as the father of the disenchanted youth of Nigeria.
“I’m the father of angry Nigerian youth.
He mentioned this during an interactive session with a group of young people headed by Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, also known as Charly Boy.
The artist claims that teenagers, like himself, are already upset due to the rising unemployment rate.
According to the musician, youths, including himself, are already dissatisfied, citing rising unemployment.
During his speech, Obasanjo chastised Nigerian politicians for the country’s economic troubles, claiming that it is not God’s fault but the fault of those in power.

He argued that greater governance under capable leaders is the only way to compel change.
“There is no one who would do it other than the youths”, he said, expressing confidence that they can bring about the required transformation.
“Our leaders’ decisions led us to poverty and frustration, not God’s, and if you want to alter that or the circumstance, you must change the leadership. Pure and straightforward,” said Obasanjo.
