New Juaben North Assembly urges flood victims to be calm

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly is urging flood victims in the municipality to exercise restraint and remain calm as the assembly ramps up efforts to provide relief items.

Despite the assembly’s passionate appeal to the international community and the public to help them bring relief to the over 2,000 affected persons during a press conference on Tuesday, Citi News understands that the affected persons are dissatisfied with the slow pace following the unfortunate disaster.

Comfort Asante, the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, told Citi News that a formal complaint has been made to the regional minister to expedite the distribution of relief items to the affected people, and urged them to remain calm.

“We have formally informed the regional minister of what has occurred, and I have heard that he is also preparing to support us in whatever form of food items that we may be able to obtain for our people.”

Madam Asante, who reiterated calls for help from all, also stated that she is optimistic that academic activities will resume in Akwadum by next week Monday if rain does not fall in the municipality this weekend.
