National Security agents apprehended the leader of an Islamic group in Karaga, Northern Region, for links to a jihadist group in Burkina Faso.
Shiekh Siedu Dukere, a prominent Fulani cleric, and 12 of his followers were apprehended on Saturday, October 1.
According to the General Secretary of a Fulani Welfare Group, who confirmed the news to JoyNews, the reason for the arrest has not been officially determined.
Security personnel, according to Yakubu Musa Bari, have remained silent on the matter.
The Imam and his followers have been arrested for the second time by national security.

He was arrested for the first time in 2019 along with 20 of his followers. He was linked to a jihadist group once more after the Burkinabe army killed five jihadist militants in Ghana who had all listed him as their emergency contact.
The Burkinabe agency then notified the Ghanaian government, which resulted in his arrest.
He was transferred to Accra, but after only three weeks in custody, the Sheikh and his followers were released without being charged.
