President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is unsure whether Chinese illegal miner Aisha Huang was deported from Ghana in 2018, citing a lack of confirmation from state actors.
Speaking on Stone City FM, the President, who expressed concern about the actions of his appointees, assured the illegal miner that she would be prosecuted following her re-arrest.
“I’m still not sure if she was deported or if she fled the country the first time and has now returned.” “There still appears to be some uncertainty,” he said.
The comments bolster the suspicions of North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto, who claims that the relevant authorities failed to follow due processes regarding her deportation, allowing their Chinese counterparts to track her down.
Aisha Huang was deported in 2018 for illegal mining activities, according to reports, before being arrested on September 5, 2022.
Many people thought she should have been prosecuted instead of deported.
According to previous reports, she returned to Ghana from a neighbouring country via a land border.
Huang En is also the name on her Ghana Card.
Following her recent arrest, the Attorney General intends to file charges against her.
An Accra Circuit Court has remanded the Chinese national, along with three others, in police custody for illegal mining.
She has been charged with illegal mining and dealing in the sale and purchase of minerals.
