Nana Addo commended for his sincerity over Aisha Huang’s case

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been praised for disclosing his knowledge of the Aisha Huang situation in 2018.

On Stonecity Radio in Ho on Tuesday, September 13, President Akufo-Addo expressed uncertainty about whether the popular Chinese businesswoman was deported or fled the country.

“When you have a situation like this woman [Aisha Huang], I am not sure whether she was deported or whether she fled the country the first time and has now returned or whatever, but there still appears to be some uncertainty,” he said.

On TV3’s Midday Live on Tuesday, September 13, security analyst Dr Adam Bonaa, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Kazz Group of Companies, praised the President and stated that a different leader would have spewed half-truths about the situation.

“If the President is saying in all sincerity and honesty that he is unaware of what has happened with regard to Aisha Huang’s deportation, repatriation, or presence in this country,” he said.

“But I have to tell you that I am happy that the President has been very sincere with Ghanaians; someone else would have lied to Ghanaians and said, ‘I am aware of what is going on and the issue is being addressed.'”

This contrasts with the barrage of criticisms levelled at President Akufo-Addo for not being unsure whether the notorious Chinese galamsey kingpin should be deported or not.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Organiser, George Opare Addo, has called the President’s open admission “incompetence.”

This is an indication of incompetence! – Opare Addo of the NDC fires Akufo-Addo over the Aisha Huang remark.

Dr. Bonaa, on the other hand, believes otherwise.
“It tells you that the President is probably more serious about the fight against galamsey, and he is telling his security chiefs that you have failed me.”

Aisha Huang and three other Chinese nationals are scheduled to appear in an Accra Circuit Court on September 14th.

Her trial in 2018 was shortened in order for her to be deported, but she was arrested a few months ago for similar offences after being suspected of sneaking into Ghana.
