The husband of the popular Yellow Sisi Special Waakye vendor has expressed his wife’s trauma as a result of customers being poisoned and dying after eating his wife’s food.
He expressed doubts about his wife’s business’s ability to recover from the heinous incident and the negative image it has created.
In an interview with Citi FM in Accra, the disturbed man stated that his wife loved her family and the customers she served too much to intentionally harm or kill them.
“My wife can’t hurt her family or her customers because we eat the same food whenever it’s prepared.”
After eating the food, my wife, one of her sales ladies, and my daughter all went to the hospital for treatment. “She will never do anything to harm her customers,” he is quoted as saying.
According to the Food and Drugs Authority, one person died, contrary to earlier reports of five casualties, and fifty-three (54) others were hospitalised after consuming the popular Waakye at Bush Canteen in Oyibi, Greater Accra Region, on Friday, January 20, 2023.
According to reports, the deceased was the landlord of the parcel of land where the waakye joint is located.
The FDA and the police are investigating the tragic incident, among other things, to determine the cause of the poisoning.
