A mother in India is accused of severing her boyfriend’s genitals after he allegedly attempted to rape her 14-year-old daughter, according to local media.
The incident happened on Wednesday in Uttar Pradesh, a northern Indian state near the Nepal border. According to the woman, 36, she had been working on a farm and returned home to find her 32-year-old live-in boyfriend assaulting her teenage daughter.
The woman had been living with him for the past two years after separating from her “alcoholic husband,” according to the report.
The mother reportedly said, “I was working on the farm when the tragedy occurred,” according to the Times of India. Thankfully, I arrived home in time to catch him in the act.
The article claims that the boyfriend allegedly attacked the mother after she tried to save her daughter in a state of terror.
“So, I fetched a knife from the kitchen and hacked off his privates. I don’t regret what I did.” The mother reportedly told the Times of India.
The boyfriend was charged with rape under India’s Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to a police officer from the Lakhimpur police station who spoke to the news organization.

The individual was admitted to the hospital for treatment and was said to be in critical condition.
It wasn’t known if the mother will be charged.
In response to violent crimes against women and girls, India has passed stricter rape laws in recent years.
The fatal gang rape of a young woman in New Delhi in 2012 sparked massive protests by hundreds of thousands of people calling for stricter laws and punishment.
That same year, the POCSO Act, which aims to protect children from sexual assault, sexual harassment, and pornography, was passed.
The rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in India’s Jammu-Kashmir state in 2018, as well as the alleged rape of a girl by a ruling party lawmaker in Uttar Pradesh state — the same state where the recent alleged incident occurred — prompted the government to approve the death penalty for people convicted of raping children under the age of 12.
