A driver involved in the alleged killing incident in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region has been remanded into prison custody by the Nkwanta South District Magistrate Court.
The court presided over by Joseph Evans Anang Okrokpa, granted the police’s request to remand the 43-year-old suspect, John Nana Sei.
The suspect, whose plea was reserved, is charged with murder and using an offensive weapon in violation of Section 70 of the Criminal Offensive Act (29).
Four other suspects, whose identities have not been released, are currently on the run.
Inspector Bright Nkansah, the Police Prosecutor, urged the court in his application to grant the order to remand the suspect so that the Police could complete their investigations.
The suspect, who is currently in custody, was found with a pump action gun loaded with 27 cartridges and two knives, according to police.
Some of the enraged family members in attendance praised the presiding judge for the decision, urging the police to bring all perpetrators to justice.

Background
According to the police investigation, the suspect, along with three others and other unidentified persons currently on the run armed with offensive weapons including guns, allegedly fired indiscriminately into the area, killing one person and injuring six others.
The injured victims are being treated at the St. Joseph Hospital in Nkwanta and the Nkwanta Municipal Government Hospital, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at the same hospital for preservation and autopsy.
