President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that he accepts full responsibility for the current economic difficulties, but that external factors cannot be ignored.
This is the first time the president has publicly acknowledged the country’s micro-economy has been challenged.
“I am the leader, and I accept responsibility,” Mr Akufo-Addo said in an interview with the host of Otec FM’s morning show on Monday, October 17, as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region.
The president, on the other hand, is optimistic that the economy will recover before he leaves office. “I hope the IMF support is concluded by the middle of November so that we can feed it into our budget,” he said.
