The National Health Students Association of Ghana is demanding that the Ministry of Health pay its members’ unpaid allowances.
According to the Association, allied health National Service personnel in 2021/2022 are owed 11 months in arrears, while midwives and nurses in the same period are still waiting for 10-month allowances.
Members have become frustrated as a result of the situation, as many affected individuals struggle to commute to work and make ends meet.
Maasubee Balom Rahim, Vice President of the National Health Students Association of Ghana, told Citi News that efforts to get the Ministry of Health to correct the situation have hit a snag.

“The NSS secretariat deployed them in September 2021, with Nurses and Midwives following in December 2021.” They have yet to receive their allowances, not even a pesewa.”
“As of yesterday, the Ministry of Health reported that it had followed up with the Ministry of Finance.” That’s all they keep saying. We’ve been told countless times that the salaries will arrive, but they never do.”
