Half-Assini Police Commander shoots himself

Superintendent of Police Cyprian Zenge, the Half-Assin District Police Commander, is said to have committed suicide.

In the early hours of Saturday, January 30, 2021, the officer committed suicide by shooting himself at his Bungalow in Half Assini.

“I am fed up with this world,” read a suicide note discovered.

The Western Regional Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ms. Olivia Adiku, confirmed the news.

“The Regional Crime Scene Team has already visited the scene, where he was found sitting in a blue chair with a gunshot wound on his forehead, his pistol beside him on the floor, and one spent ammunition under the chair,” the Regional Police Command stated in a statement.

“Although preliminary evidence points to suicide, an investigation has been launched to uncover the true circumstances surrounding the Officer’s death.”

“The officer’s family has been notified of his death,” the command said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Supt. Zenge’s remains have been transported to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for preservation pending further investigation.

In early 2017, the late Supt Zenge was assigned to the area. He was born in Nandom, Upper West Region, and died at the age of 57.
