Guest house director shoots customer over malfunctioning TV

Guest house director shoots customer over malfunctioning TV
The director of the facility, who is now facing prosecution, pulled a gun and shot a customer after he complained about a malfunctioning TV in the guest house he was staying at.

On Thursday, January 5, 2023, the Nigerian, Kingsley Enageghe, the Director of Queens Victory Guest House, shot his customer, Kelvin Nwabuno, on the premises of the guest house.

When the unfortunate incident occurred, the victim, a 35-year-old businessman, was in the guest house with his friend, Abdulahi Animashahun, 30, and a student, Charles Edet, 18, in the Ijeshatedo area of Lagos State.

According to Pulse.ng, Nwabuno checked into the guest house on Monday, January 2, and stayed for three days. He did, however, postpone renewing his payment on the fourth day, promising to pay around 4 p.m.

Enageghe insisted on collecting the money and directed the bartender, Edet, to retrieve the room key from Nwabuno.

Nwabuno tells pulse.ng about how the conversation turned bloody: “The cash I was expecting later came in. I went to use an ATM, leaving my wife and small child in the guest house, who had joined me on Wednesday. They had been escorted out of the room by the time I returned. “I was supposed to pay N4,500 for the extra day, but I paid N9,000 to avoid insults and embarrassment.” After I paid, I called the director and complained that my television had not worked since I moved in, but he told me not to tell him what to do.

"He began insulting me, and I responded by insulting him. So he returned my money and allowed me to leave his hotel. I returned to the room with my wife, a friend, and the bartender.

"He (Enageghe) came over and started shouting at me while we were packing our belongings. He shoved me, and I shoved him back; then he pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot me. When I told him he couldn't kill me, he backed up, cocked the gun, and pulled the trigger. The bullets struck my thigh, my friend's legs, and the bartender's legs. My wife and I were fortunate not to be hit."

Enageghe was arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, while a police investigation into the incident was launched.
