The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has informed Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) customers that there will be daytime outages from Saturday, April 9 to Thursday, June 30.
This is due to a project to rebuild transmission lines from the Achimota substation to the Mallam substation via Avenor.
“This important exercise is to meet the growing demand for electricity in Accra and its environs,” the Company stated in a Friday, April 8, 2022 announcement.
Two 16kV transmission lines are said to be taken out of service as part of the work.
The outage is being scheduled to allow GRIDCo to upgrade the transmission capacity on each line.
“The outage will have an impact on customers served by the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) distribution system that crosses these transmission lines (between the two countries).”
