At the fifth Ghana Outstanding Women’s Award (GOWA) ceremony, held on Saturday at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, expert corporate communication strategist Madam Esther Cobbah was named the overall winner (Woman of the Year).
Her decades-long record of excellence in corporate communications inspired the coveted award’s organizers to give her the flagship honour.
She was really grateful to the organizers for the honour and recognition.
Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, CEO of ASKOF Productions, the event’s organizers, praised the nominees for the distinct constructive roles they are each playing in their communities.
She talked about how the journey had been challenging but that her team’s tenacity and the backing of the sponsors had kept the event going.
The evening featured excellent musical performances by legendary gospel trio Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Mr Drew, and Akatakyie.
Due to Madam Cobbah’s initiatives, there was a rush of international investors in Ghana for the purpose of oil exploration, providing GNPC with the essential seismic data for the 2007 oil discovery.
She was also the first corporate woman to create a communication plan outlining how LPG could help Ghanaians transition away from using charcoal burners. She created gas-powered KLEEKCOOK Stoves as a result.
The award scheme honours women whose efforts and initiatives are making a positive difference in the lives of people in their respective localities.
Tasty Tom, who served as the event’s presenting sponsor, was joined by Care Front Travel and Tours, Perfect Finishing Stainless Steel Company, Ike City Group, Tang Palace Hotel, Floral Tissue, Top Choko and Sunlight, Fortune Rice, Chartma Herbal Clinic, Eye360 Security, and Frytol as supporting sponsors.
