The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has condemned a man’s assault on a toddler captured in a viral social media video.
Though no arrests have been made, the Ghana Police Service says its intelligence teams and experts from the Police Cyber Crime Unit are working to apprehend the man seen in a viral video physically abusing a toddler.
The man is seen whipping the toddler in front of other men in the widely circulated video, while the toddler screams in pain.
However, none of them attempted to help the victim.
According to the Gender Ministry, the act violates both the Children’s Act of 1998 and Ghana’s criminal code.
“On behalf of the government, the Ministry strongly condemns the cruel, inhumane, and barbaric act committed against the child.” “As a result, the Ministry appeals to the general public to assist the Police with any information that will aid in the arrest of the manner,” said the release.
