Former NPP National Chairman Freddie Blay sees nothing wrong with his law firm representing some Chinese nationals on trial alongside En Huang, also known as Aisha Huang, for illegal mining offences.
Mr. Blay believes that it is his firm’s responsibility to represent people who they believe are innocent of the charges brought against them.
Freddie Blay said on the Citi Breakfast Show that his political status should not interfere with his legal work.
“Some people have the wrong impression. The fact that my law firm is defending them does not imply that the government endorses or participates in illegal mining. We are all in favour of efforts to combat galamsey. Personally, I am opposed to galamsey.”

“This does not preclude the representation of innocent people.” Let us await the court’s decision. We will know the truth, that my clients are innocent, at the end of the day. They have committed no wrongdoing and are not involved in galamsey.”
