According to a police report in Kabul, Mursal Nabizada, a former member of the Parliamentary in Afghanistan has been shot dead in her hometown in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan.
Some other injuries that also follow the death of the popular lawmaker include the attack on her brother which inflicted severe injuries on him and the death of her bodyguard.
Khalid Zadran, the Kabul police spokesman has disclosed that there is an ongoing thorough investigation on the incident.
The death of Ms Nabizada has increased the restlessness in the country with many top government officials calling for the defaulters to be apprehended.
Former member of the European Parliament, Hanna Neuman, wrote concerning the killing of Ms Nabizada, “I am sad and angry and want the world to know! She was killed in darkness, but the Taliban built their system of gender apartheid in full daylight.”
Also, a former top Afghan official in the country’s former Western-backed government, Abdullah Abdullah has also expressed his displeasure in the killing of Ms Nabizada and has also called for those involved to be adequately punished.

Mursal Nabizada was one of the few female members of Parliament in Afghanistan who stayed in Kabul after the Taliban seized power in August 2021.

The 32-year-old Afghan MP from the Eastern province of Nangarhar was elected into office as a Member of the Parliamentary from Kabul in 2018 and remained in power for about three years before the Taliban seized power in 2021.
Ms. Nabizada was a member of the Parliamentary defense commission and served at the Institute for Human Resources Development and Research.
After the Taliban returned to power in 2021, women were stripped off their position in all areas of public life.
There have also been multiple attacks in the country that have claimed the lives of many in the capital.
Last September, nothing less than 25 people were killed by a suicide bomber in an education center in Kabul in which most of the population were young women.
Many top professional Afghanistan women workers who occupied important roles in the government after the US-led invasion fled due to the unrest in the country.
But Ms Nabizada turned down chances of leaving to remain in her country.
She is regarded as a fearless champion for Afghanistan due to that decision she made.
Mariam Solaimankhil, a former lawmaker, wrote on Twitter concerning Ms Nabizada,
“a true trailblazer – strong, outspoken woman who stood for what she believed in, even in the face of danger, Despite being offered the chance to leave Afghanistan, she chose to stay and fight for her people,”
Abdullah Abdullah, a former top official, also described her as a “representative and servant of the people”.
Ms. Nabizada is a courageous and intelligent servant of the people and was willing to serve her people at all costs.
