Finance Ministry reacts to Ofori-Atta’s alleged resignation

The Finance Ministry has denied reports that Ken Ofori-Atta, its sector minister, has resigned.

It comes after reports from traditional and social media outlets that the Minister has resigned.

This was allegedly done following a meeting with President Nana Akufo-Addo.

About 80 Members of Parliament from the majority party demanded Mr Ofori-resignation Atta’s yesterday, October 25, 2022, claiming that he has failed to live up to expectations in terms of worsening the country’s economic situation.

However, sources close to the minister and senior Finance Ministry officials have told Joy Business that the reports are false.

They argue that “the public should disregard rumors of Ken Ofori-resignation.” Atta’s

“It is Ofori-diligence Atta’s and credibility that has engendered so much goodwill toward Ghana among our bilateral partners, prompting the IMF to expedite our Programme negotiations.” Indeed, they stated, “we are on track, working around the clock, and have spent the entire day [October 25, 2022] at Jubilee House, engaging various stakeholders on our economic recovery.”

“We’re all in this together, and we’ll win.” “The Ministry of Finance assures all Ghanaians that things will soon improve,” they added.

Meanwhile, the finance minister will continue to seek input from stakeholders on the current discussions with the IMF for an economic program.

He is expected to meet with market women’s leaders in Accra, as well as the Ghana Employers Association and the Ghana Trades Union Congress.
