Everton appeared to be a good option at the time- Kudus

Mohammed Kudus has admitted that he wanted to leave Ajax because Everton presented him with a fantastic opportunity, which he wanted to take.

The Ghana midfielder expressed dissatisfaction with his bench role and expressed a desire to leave the Dutch champions during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old was impressive in preseason, scoring four goals, but he was benched in the first four games of the season, playing only 29 minutes.

In an attempt to force his departure, Kudus agreed personal terms with Everton and boycotted training just 48 hours before the transfer window closed, but Ajax stood firm.

“Everton presented me with a fantastic opportunity, and I wanted to take it.” “No footballer, including myself, wants to sit on the bench,” Kudus said.

“Although I understood that not everyone could play every week, Everton appeared to be a good option at the time.”

“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to train; it’s just that I’m human and had a lot to deal with in a short period of time.”

“The chapter has ended, but I’m still here.”

Since the failed transfer, Kudus has seen increased playing time. He has started Ajax’s last four games, including two in the Champions League, and has six goals, including his screamer against Liverpool at Anfield.

Kudus is currently training with the Black Stars in France ahead of international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.

The matches are part of the team’s World Cup preparations.
On Friday, Ghana will face Brazil in France before traveling to Spain to face Nicaragua.
