BREAKING: Elon Musk threatens to develop new smartphone

Elon Musk claims that if Twitter is removed from the Apple App Store, he will develop “another” smartphone.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, said on Saturday that if the microblogging service is removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play, he would think about developing an “alternative phone.”

Liz Wheeler, a Twitter user, wrote, “If Apple & Google kick Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should build his own smartphone,” to which Mr. Musk responded.

The prejudiced, snooping iPhone & Android would be cheerfully abandoned by half of the country. A foolish little smartphone should be simple for the man who makes rockets to Mars, right?

The “Chief Twit” responded by saying he “definitely” doesn’t want Apple and Google to take Twitter out of their prestigious storefronts. Musk did, however, add that he would create “another phone” if it came to that and there was “no other choice.”

A lot of attention was immediately focused on Mr. Musk’s tweet on the microblogging site. I think he’ll revolutionize smartphones, one user said, while another wrote, “I feel like this plan is already in the works.”

Mr. Musk’s remarks follow Phil Schiller deletion of his Twitter account, an Apple employee in charge of the App Store.

Separately, it comes after Yoel Roth, the former head of trust and safety at Twitter, warned that the social media behemoth runs the possibility of being kicked out of Apple and Google’s app stores if they don’t follow rules.

Mr. Roth stated to the New York Times, “Failure to follow Apple’s and Google’s rules would be disastrous since Twitter would run the risk of being kicked out of their app stores, which would make it more difficult for billions of prospective users to access Twitter’s services.

Because of this, Apple and Google have a lot of influence on the choices Twitter makes.” He added that the calls from the app review teams had already started as he was leaving Twitter.
