The public has once again been urged by the Energy of Ghana (ECG) to stop engaging in illegal activities that interfere with the delivery of electricity.
This will enable us to cut down on our losses and better serve our clients. In order to maintain satisfied consumers and a steady supply, we must improve our lines. The manager in charge of external communications at the ECG, Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, stated, “We need to receive our revenue, thus we need to work hard to acquire the offenders.”
He also pleaded with the public to act as watchdogs for the company, allowing them to identify and punish criminal consumers.

“We will go after them, but we want to encourage the general public to report anyone tampering with metres or engaging in other illegal connections, and we will give them a commission in the form of a percentage of the cost recovered from the illegality.”
Meanwhile, the power distribution company has stated that it is working hard to correct pre-paid metres that are not responding accurately to power purchased by customers.
The ECG experienced issues with some of its prepaid metres following an increase in electricity tariffs.
While some of the metres have not been accurately responding to power purchases by consumers, others have run into negative balances following purchases.
As part of the company’s effort to inspect the condition of all metres across the country, the ECG revenue mobilisation taskforce has recently discovered various power illegalities.
