Over 500 NDC delegates in Upper Denkyira West Constituency were left stranded after ballots for Saturday’s constituency elections failed to arrive at the voting center in Denkyira Subin.
According to the incumbent Constituency Chairman, John Kay, the ballots were burned and EC officials were attacked by unknown assailants.
He blamed his opponent, Peter Nana Boamah, for the chaos.
Chairman John Kay told delegates that his challenger, who only recently defected from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had directed his thugs to carry out the attacks.
As a result, the elections, like many others in the Central Region, were bound to be canceled.
Disappointment over the postponement of NDC constituency elections in C/R
The delegates, most of whom were upset because they had traveled long distances to the voting location, threatened to boycott all party activities if the elections were canceled.
As a result, chairman John Kay informed everyone in attendance that he had received permission from the regional chairman and the National Chairman to hold the elections in any way possible.

As a result, he instructed delegates to place two boxes at the voting center and fill out “ballots” for their preferred candidates – him or Nana Boamah.
Because the EC officials were nowhere near the venue, the elections would be held without them.
