The Eastern Regional Police are looking for a commercial driver, Michael Abeiku, 30, who is accused of murdering his 27-year-old wife, Gifty Tetteh, in the New Juaben North Municipality of Oyoko.
According to the deceased’s relatives, Micheal, who had threatened to commit the crime months before, did so on Thursday after accusing his wife of infidelity.
They explained that Abeiku Michael inflicted multiple deep machete wounds on her limbs, neck, breast, and knees after a short argument with the wife, who had just returned home after staying with her mother for some time now, until she bled out profusely and died before the police arrived.
The deceased’s uncle, Ebenezer Boadi, told the media that the police had begun their investigation.
"It's a very sad situation; they have an unresolved problem. A few months ago, the husband threatened to kill my niece for allegedly cheating on him after a man called her on the phone. Later, the husband returned the man's call, and the two exchanged words. My niece, who was afraid for her life, wanted a divorce, but the man begged me to settle the case. So we were in the middle of doing that when he killed my niece. The cops arrived at the house to take photographs and videos."
He stated that the children are now staying with their grandmother.
Meanwhile, the suspect is on the run after committing the heinous crime.
