Due to system issues, ECG district offices are now selling prepaid credit

Following a disruption to its prepaid metering systems that left customers stranded, the Electricity Company of Ghana is now able to sell credit at its district offices.

Customers in the Greater Accra, Central, Eastern, Western, and Volta Regions can currently purchase electricity from ECG district offices.

In a statement, ECG assured customers using its prepaid metering systems that its team is “working progressively to correct the technical anomaly that impacted the purchase of electricity.”

Some electricity customers have been counting their losses, with some claiming that their businesses have suffered as a result of their inability to purchase electricity.

ECG customers, both domestic and commercial, who have been without power since Tuesday have been unable to make purchases due to what ECG officials have described as a technical challenge.

People looking for electricity were being turned away from some ECG vending machines and offices.
