Driver’s mate trapped as cargo truck flips over at Peduase

On Saturday, personnel from the Ghana Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service conducted a rescue operation to save a driver’s mate who was trapped beneath an overturned cargo truck on the Peduase-Ayi Mensah road.

The truck, with the registration number GX 824-17, was descending from Peduase hill towards Accra when it lost control and overturned.

Soon after, two fire tenders and a private crane arrived on the scene to try to rescue the trapped man.

After more than an hour, the man was rescued with minor injuries, loaded into a waiting ambulance, and taken to the hospital.

Station Officer 1, Daniel Ofosu of the Madina Fire Station, who was involved in the rescue operations, told Citi News that they learned the truck driver’s brake failed as he descended the hill.

“We heard that the vehicle failed its brakes, began from the top, and the driver attempted to control it, but it did not work.” “There are three of them, but only one was trapped, and we were able to save him,” he explained.
