Police in the Eastern Region have launched an investigation after a body was discovered floating in flood waters at Sentimental, a Koforidua suburb in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region.
On Sunday, the regional capital was flooded due to three days of continuous rain.
Half of the Akwadum community, the regional office of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Effiduase, Highways, Aberewa Nkwanta, Asokore, and other areas were all submerged.
The police and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), who responded to the scene with the assistance of some community members, were able to recover the body of a man in his late 50s.
The police are appealing to relatives to come forward and assist in identifying the victim.
Some residents believe the unidentified body was carried by flood water from another area to their community because the man is unknown in the area.
