CRI intervenes in tension between Tyrone Marhguy and his dad

Child Rights International, a non-governmental organisation, met with the Marhguy family to discuss allegations that one of the Achimota school Rastafarian students physically assaulted his father, Tereo Marhguy.

In a now-viral video, the boy’s father is seen with bruises on his hand, accusing his son, Tyrone Marhguy, of assaulting him.

In the same video, the father threatened to kill the boy if it happened again, claiming that his son had been violent for years.

Despite Tyrone’s refusal to comment on the accusation, he maintains that the act was in self-defense.

Child Rights International, one of the major players who backed the two Rastafarian boys in their legal battle with the Achimota School after they were denied admission due to their dreadlocks, hopes to settle the family feud and find an amicable solution.

In the meantime, the father has apologised for making the situation public.

He sent the video to close friends for advice, he claims, but it was leaked on social media.

Tereo Marhguy told Citi News that it will not happen again after the family met with Child Rights International about the allegations and threats he made.

“Everything that happened should not have happened. We need to calm down and figure this out. It’s unfortunate that it got out and people formed their opinions. I sincerely apologize to anyone who has been harmed. I apologize to everyone for having to go through this.”

Tereo Marghuy accused his son of assaulting him violently.

In a social media video, the father was seen with bloody bruises on his hand, claiming that his son had abused him after a fight.

Tereo Marhguy told Citi News about the incident.

“He was supposed to fix a tablet for his sister, and they were finished about an hour ago, but he was still sitting there watching TV.” I went inside and asked Tyrone what was up. He exploded and began insulting his sister before unplugging the laptop. He approached me and I threatened to slap him, and then he held my hand, so I had blood all over me from the struggle up and down.”
