Today, Wednesday, September 14, 2022, the Accra Circuit Court 9 is expected to hear charges against galamsey queen, Aisha Huang, for mining without a licence and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a valid licence.
The infamous illegal miner is on trial alongside three other Chinese nationals, Jong Li Hua, Huang Jei, and Huaid Hai Hun, and their pleas have yet to be taken.
Her re-arrest has sparked public debate about the country’s borders and the government’s commitment to combating illegal mining, with many describing the case as a betrayal of the people.
President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, have both stated their commitment to a thorough, fair, and just investigation.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Information Minister, told Citi News that prosecutors in the case will be expected to reveal details about Aisha Huang’s re-entry into the country.
“Yes, everything is in the Court docket, which will be provided.” When they present the additional details of the offence in Court, the Prosecutors will go over all of those details with the specific dates and times of the information that they have,” he said.
