The Kaneshie District Court has issued an arrest warrant for Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina.
The MP had failed to appear in court for the third time since criminal charges were filed against him.
His lawyer, Victor Adawudu, told the court on Monday that the MP is attending a parliamentary committee meeting and thus unable to appear in court.
Prosecutor ASP Sylvestre Asare told the court that it was clear that the court had the discretion to issue a warrant for the MP’s arrest in such a criminal matter.
He insisted that the MP could not send someone to represent him in a criminal proceeding.

“He has a clear intention and has demonstrated that to this court,” ASP Asare said.
He maintained that no one is above the law.
